The appeal here is the cultivation system. It's layered, with detailed power hierarchies that actually feel like they matter, not just arbitrary level-ups. Motion Magic's CGI keeps improving, and the martial arts choreography in this ONA has a weight to it that makes the fights land harder than most donghua out there. The world-building leans heavily into ancient Chinese mysticism, and by season seven, it's dense enough to really sink into. If you've been following Battle Through the Heavens or Soul Land, this scratches that same itch — underdog protagonist grinding through increasingly dangerous cultivation tiers while political scheming unfolds around him.
