That miso soup machine moment hit hard and seeing Meiko cry over it because it tasted like her grandmother's cooking made me want to grab a bowl of soup too

I really felt for Meiko when she was crying after the ceremony because that dogeza was painful to watch, but then Neo just sat there with the handkerchief and it was so sweet. It's crazy how Rie just assumes she is a genius artist because of her name and now she has to live that lie while working at the cafe because she can't afford to get kicked out

Marika living under a beanbag and coming out like a colorful pajama onion was hilarious and Meiko trying to peel her was even better because she was so scared

Rie just casually hired a whole moving company and bought an entire floor of the building just to store her manga collection and it is the level of wealth that feels unreal

I still can't believe Meiko did a full dogeza in front of the whole school and Rie just called it a traditional greeting and it was the most awkward thing I have seen this year

That crude stick figure being framed during the credits after such a chaotic first day made the whole ending feel much more personal

Marika forgetting her pants and then saying they are a hindrance to her freedom in the beanbag is a highlight for her character

The transition from the peaceful countryside to Meiko standing in a dark hallway guarded by a Haniwa statue was such a mood shift and it set the tone perfectly

I really wasn't sure what to expect with this, but the dynamic between the girls is so fun. Watching Meiko freak out over the size of her room and then seeing Rie literally buy an entire floor of the building to store her manga collection was a trip and the "genius artist" misunderstanding is going to be hilarious

Neo being a pro gamer with that massive setup while looking like a doll was a great twist and her focus during that fighting game was incredible

It was so painful when Meiko tried to prove she cannot draw, and Rie decided her terrible stick figure was actually high-level minimalist art

That moment Rie called a whole moving company and bought the fourth floor just to store her books was such a flex

I felt so bad for Meiko when she did that dogeza in front of the whole school and Rie just kept making it worse by calling her a genius

I was cracking up when Meiko drew that terrible stick figure, and Rie started crying because she thought it was high-level minimalism. The misunderstanding about her being a professional artist is going to be a total disaster

Rie just buying an entire extra floor of the building because she had too many manga boxes in the club room is such a power move

EPISODE CONTEXT

As episode one of four, this is pure foundation-building — every major character and the core premise of Keiichi's affliction is introduced here. There are no prior episodes to reference, and everything that follows in episodes two through four builds directly on the relationships and dynamic established in this opener. Miss this one and the character context for Kururu and Rei in later episodes loses its grounding.
