I like it that they catches up some things here and there and still leaves room for the new conflict. The pacing is okay, it was well balanced between bringing me up to speed and the new threat. The animation here is still quite limited though.
It's a good first episode of the season. Towards the end we can see a bit of cliffhanger of the possibility of the big bad guy (girl?) of the anime. Hyouma's characteristic somehow remind me a lot of the usual shounen protagonist characteristics, which I hope can shape into something unique in the future episodes
Ngl, I completely mistook this for a Monogatari spin-off before checking the title. Lol haha. That aside, the episode is really well-written and the pacing is on point and even if the visuals are lacking a bit.
