So, my hunch for Waka was right, based on her eye color. The episode was pretty engaging and felt that guilt thoughts conveyed by Waka. The pacing was just perfect, both in the intertwining plots between the game and on the personal side. Matsumura's unfazed resolve was amazing, leading the team in a joyous tone. The animation was superb in that pitching and striking out play.
Watching Japan pivot to their signature small ball strategy is pure genius. The sharp and calculating pacing paired with the fluid animation, and the conquering tone properly highlights the collective adaptation of the Japanese squad under heavy pressure.
Damn, Mayumura is freaking awesome. I really have to give it to him in this episode. He was definitely the MVP this time. That aside, this episode had such a great revelation! I'm really curious about this new character, but I didn't expect her to have this connection.
