Mahjong Soul x Gintama Collab
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Barely able to make rent, Gintoki Sakata and the rest of the Yorozuya crew naturally end up taking an odd job that gets them sucked into an online mahjong game. That's the setup for this one-off promotional PV celebrating the crossover between Gintama and Mahjong Soul, and honestly, it's exactly as chaotic as you'd expect from anything with Gintoki's name on it. The short drops our favorite silver-haired samurai, Shinpachi, and Kagura into the world of Mahjong Soul, where they bump into the game's cast and try to figure out how mahjong tiles work — emphasis on "try." True to form, the Yorozuya spend more time roasting the collaboration itself than actually playing the game. Fourth wall? Gone. Dignity? Never had it. Bandai Namco Pictures animated this, so it looks and feels like classic Gintama even in a bite-sized format. If you're a fan of Gintama's brand of self-aware comedy, this is a fun little bonus round. Think of it like those Osomatsu-san promotional bits where the humor comes from the characters being fully aware they're in branded content and refusing to play along gracefully. Fans of Mahjong Soul Pon might also get a kick out of seeing their game characters thrown into Gintama's comedic blender. It's one episode, it's short, and it requires zero mahjong knowledge — just an appreciation for Gintoki being Gintoki in places he clearly doesn't belong.
