I'd say this episode is the definition of a nothing burger; nothing important happens. It’s mostly slice-of-life and relationship building, which is important so we can actually care about the cast, but even that feels underdeveloped with all the time it has to do so, making the episode feel even slower.

Some minor relationship development happened, that's about it. Otherwise this episode felt pretty pointless and the show still doesn't seem to be going anywhere. A bit boring overall.

Episode Context

Coming off the confrontation with Nero in episode three, this episode pulls back from the supernatural violence to examine Shiki's home life and the fractures within the Tohno family. At the one-third mark of a 12-episode series, it's doing essential groundwork, establishing Akiha, Kohaku, and Hisui as key players whose relationships with Shiki will carry increasing weight as the mystery deepens in the episodes ahead.
