The Frantic Kick-the-Can Tournament
The Little Busters launch into their "Perfect, Invincible Kick-the-Can Tournament" with explosive energy. Haruka Saigusa, a designated "demon," mischievously kicks the can herself, plunging the game into immediate chaos and frustrating Masato Inohara. This act of defiance earns her an "extreme punishment" from the disciplinary committee. Rin Natsume and Komari Kamikita, acting as enforcers, chase Haruka through the halls, only to be chastised by Mio Nishizono for disturbing the school's peace.
The Clubroom's Uncertain Future
The playful atmosphere suddenly shifts as Kyousuke Natsume delivers unsettling news to Riki Naoe: their beloved clubroom faces elimination due to school reorganization. Riki is understandably dismayed, but Kyousuke quickly outlines a "political" strategy. The Little Busters must contribute to student council activities to gain leverage, and Riki is specifically assigned to assist in the dorm leader's office.
Riki's New Post
Riki Naoe arrives at the dorm leader's office, where he encounters Kanata Futaki (identified as Saya Tokido in the raw scene descriptions). Haruka Saigusa is also present for a brief moment before quickly excusing herself, leaving Riki and Kanata to manage a stack of paperwork. Riki begins his new, somewhat unexpected, administrative task.
Kanata's Cold Reality
As Riki Naoe diligently assists with the paperwork, he observes Kanata Futaki's detached and efficient work ethic. He comments on the solitary nature of the task, but she dismisses his observation with a stark, unsettling philosophy. Kanata states that not everyone can be remembered, and only a select few truly matter enough to be missed. Her words reveal a harsh worldview, implying she only protects what is absolutely necessary.
Shadows of Sadness
A poignant visual transition follows, showing strips of paper being shredded, symbolizing loss and fragmentation. This is immediately followed by a shot of a melancholy sunset casting warm but fading colors over the school building. These images visually underscore the profound weight of Kanata Futaki's words and the hidden sorrow they subtly suggest. The fading light mirrors the deepening emotional atmosphere.
The Dorm Leader's Return
Kanata Futaki (referred to as Saya Tokido in the raw descriptions) re-enters the dorm leader's office, cheerily announcing her return. She attempts to offer Haruka Saigusa some muffins, but Haruka politely declines, stating her dislike for sweets. Kanata then light-heartedly chides Riki Naoe for his earlier remarks, maintaining a somewhat aloof but functional demeanor throughout the interaction.
Haruka's Sense of Duty
Outside the school gates, Riki Naoe discovers Haruka Saigusa earnestly picking up empty cans, fulfilling her earlier punishment. Haruka explains that this seemingly trivial task is, in fact, a vital duty undertaken to protect the clubroom. She asserts a philosophy that "only by fulfilling your duties can you assert your rights," a belief she openly admits was imparted by her sister. Mio Nishizono is also briefly seen nearby, observing.
Mio's Hidden Labors
Riki Naoe, Mio Nishizono, and Komari Kamikita gather outside, acknowledging the oppressive summer heat. Mio unexpectedly reveals her meticulous role in tending to the school lawn alongside the gardening club, showcasing a dedication that extends beyond her disciplinary committee duties. She candidly expresses her discomfort with lively environments, concluding with a cryptic warning to Riki about enjoying his playtime "as long as he's allowed."
Assembling the Bulletin Board
Back in the dorm leader's office, Riki Naoe and Kanata Futaki (again, referred to as Saya Tokido in raw descriptions) collaborate on repairing a bulletin board. Kanata makes a humorous, albeit slightly dismissive, comment about Riki's height, suggesting it makes him well-suited for quietly hiding in corners and eating hamburgers. Despite their physical proximity, the interaction maintains a palpable distance.
The Apple of the Field
During a brief break, Riki Naoe and Kanata Futaki engage in a personal discussion about her food preferences. Kanata reveals a surprisingly childish palate, disliking pickles and tomatoes, yet she expresses a fondness for red fruits. With a subtle smile, she then shares the intriguing origin of her name, explaining that "Kanata" means "apple of the field," symbolizing a bountiful harvest. This offers a rare, brief glimpse into her personal history.
The Weight of Responsibility
Kanata Futaki is seen awaiting a phone call from her sister, her focus seemingly elsewhere. Riki Naoe expresses concern for her, acknowledging her administrative duties for the Kendo club, and he, along with Mio Nishizono, gently urges Kanata to approach her responsibilities with more seriousness. Though initially reluctant to engage, Kanata eventually acquiesces to Mio's suggestion that Riki provide assistance.
A Shared Evening
Riki Naoe and Kanata Futaki continue their shared work in the office late into the evening, the fading sunlight casting a warm, quiet glow. Kanata expresses gratitude to Mio Nishizono for her earlier help, then sincerely apologizes to Riki for keeping him so late. She reassures them both of her unwavering commitment, stating she will return to her duties again tomorrow.
Kanata's True Burden
The emotional core of the episode unfolds as Kanata Futaki reveals a profound and painful truth: her sister orchestrated all of Kanata's duties, including the necessity of deception. With her face shadowed, Kanata warns Riki Naoe to never reveal this secret, then walks away into the encroaching darkness. Riki is left utterly devastated, and the scene transitions to Kanata alone, soaked and shivering in a dark, watery environment. Her arm bears visible scars, exposing the raw depth of her despair and physical pain.
Echoes of Sorrow
The episode concludes with the impactful title card, "Episode 7: Kanata's Secret," followed by the ending credits. Images of a dark classroom, symbolic objects such as a gun and a cat collar, and a solitary, sad-looking Komari Kamikita on a swing reinforce the lingering sense of melancholy. The preview for the next episode, "Our Bonds," further teases Kanata Futaki in distress, ensuring her emotional struggle continues to resonate.
