Episode Context

At episode 3 of 52, the series is still in its foundational phase, establishing Cosette's circumstances and inner strength before the larger story of Jean Valjean takes center stage. Following the earlier focus on Valjean's history, this episode pulls back to Cosette's daily life under the Thénardiers, reinforcing why her situation demands rescue. It lays quiet but important groundwork heading into the next episode, where Fantine's correspondence with Cosette becomes a key emotional thread.
