I have such mixed feelings, loyalty, friendship, and duty all clashing. What a shocking ending! Is this the price of being part of the King’s secret? I’m truly baffled by Maximilien’s underlying motivations. Things are getting darker.

This episode was absolutely heartbreaking from start to finish. Watching D'Eon struggle through everything was painful, and the King's order made it even more devastating. Durand's fight was incredible, but what followed turned everything much darker. That ending genuinely broke me.

This episode left me with so many questions. Did the king really send that cruel letter to Durand? If so, why? And why did Robespierre decide to help him? The mystery just keeps getting deeper, and it feels like the story is about to take a huge turn.

Episode Context

Coming off the fallout from 'Robert Wood's Document Case,' where compromised intelligence left the protagonists exposed, this episode internalizes the crisis, shifting focus from external threats to the fractures forming within the group itself. At the midpoint of the 24-episode run, it marks a turning point where clandestine orders begin to override personal allegiances. It feeds directly into 'The Whereabouts of the Soul,' positioning the story for a deeper dive into the supernatural and identity-driven threads that define the series' second half.
