LAZARUS Episode 9: Death on Two Legs

After the previous episode, it seems the show has gone back to its main flaw of diverting from the original story. A new character is introduced as we are getting to the end, yet there is no suspense or buildup which leads to a poor episode in my opinion.

They may have given too much screentime to Soryu the assassin, with the army plotting to kill Axel, it didn't make much sense until I've finished the series and all I can say it's laid out pretty well.

There's little to nothing this episode give other than the introduction and hyping the new antagonist that seemingly has little relevancy to the overarching plot. The fight choreography itself was ridiculous and doesn't allow suspension of belief considering anything fantastical, so far, has been under the sci-fi genre. Axel, for all his ridiculous acrobatics, allows enough room to belief the possibility of a person with enough skill for parkour is capable. It makes the new antagonist less interesting and more annoying to be revealed at this point of time instead of allowing the Lazarus members to bond more as a group or wrote any type of internal conflict.

Alright, at this point things are getting ridiculous. It looks cool, there's definitely a lot of effort being placed in this, but the pacing against the overarching plot is feeling a lot more abyssmal. There is no way we're going to get anything satisfying by the end of this episode but it will try to clumsily pick the pieces together, which is sad because I have high hopes for this title.
