EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode 5 starts as another calm slice of life episode, but the second half shifts toward Muginami’s backstory and lore. The episode's second half becomes tense after the scene involving Muginami and her brother.

The tension is going up in this episode. Muginami's and Lan's backstories are slowly being unveiled. There is still this mysterious vibe and many unanswered questions, but maybe they will be answered in the next episodes. Can't wait for it.

This episode feels like the point where things stop being just “school life with hints of sci-fi” and start feeling like an actual conflict is building up. The arrival of the mysterious man changes the mood a lot, because it makes the story feel less like everyday Kamogawa and more like something bigger is starting to interfere with it. Madoka still acts like her usual energetic self, but you can tell she’s slowly getting pulled into situations she can’t just brush off anymore. Lan also stands out more here since she keeps that calm, almost detached feeling like she already understands what’s going on while Madoka is still catching up. Even though it’s not heavy on action, the tension is definitely starting to build in the background, and it feels like the calm setup phase is ending. Overall, it’s a clear transition episode that pushes the story closer to its main direction.
