It hit me pretty hard when Hidemasa was put in actual danger because it made Miko's ninja duties feel so much more personal this time around. The whole tragedy with Shanahime and Kyoshiro from four centuries ago was surprisingly sad for a series like this, and it really elevated the stakes for the final resolution of the EX chapters
