Kunon the Sorcerer Can See
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Born blind and bearing something called the Hero's Scar, Kunon Gurion could have easily accepted his fate and moved on like most people in his world. But Kunon decides he's going to do something nobody has ever done before — use water magic to literally create new eyes for himself. The kid picks up magic and within five months he's already outpaced his teacher, which is wild enough on its own. But it gets better: he figures out how to sense colors through water, craft objects out of thin air, and even conjure a full-on cat. Naturally, the royal court takes notice and he lands an apprenticeship with the most powerful magician in the kingdom. This 13-episode TV series from Platinum Vision is all about watching someone work around limitations in genuinely creative ways rather than just powering through them. The magic system is built around water manipulation and feels thought-out instead of arbitrary, which gives every new discovery Kunon makes real weight. The fantasy world has that lived-in quality where you want to stick around and see more of it. If you liked the methodical magic progression in Mushoku Tensei or the way Shield Hero handles a protagonist who has to get creative because raw strength isn't an option, this hits a similar nerve. There's a quiet determination to the whole thing that makes Kunon's breakthroughs feel earned rather than handed to him.
