Wow, what an unexpected curveball this was! I even did some research before writing my first episode review, but it turned out I was wrong. It turns out that this anime is a remake of the 2004 series, with some modern additions. It's a good thing I still have the DVD because, I've got to say, they fixed the sequencing. The first episode of the 2004 series was rather chaotic. However, the pacing felt rather fast, as the ghost girl was introduced right away in what was supposedly the first episode of this remake. P.S. Compared to the 2004 series, the opening (OP) and ending (ED) themes of this remake don't quite measure up to Kero! to March, and Afro-Gunso remains an unbeatable ED

Episode Context

Episode 2 is a brisk, two-part origin story that rewinds from the Hinata household routine to Keroro's first days on Earth. The tone mixes deadpan domestic banter, broad sci-fi farce, and a lightly spooky finish. Keroro's would-be menace is continually undercut by clumsy improvisation, while Fuyuki Hinata's occult enthusiasm and Natsumi Hinata's skeptical, forceful reactions supply the central comic contrast. Aki Hinata adds an unpredictable adult perspective. The first segment plays as chaotic first-contact comedy built on an alien device and competing ideas about friendship and invasion. The second shifts into eccentric home-improvement humor before folding in an ominous supernatural tease. Pacing stays quick, and the comedy is carried by character friction rather than plot mechanics.
