Makin penasaran sama keluarga nya Kaya-chan. Kasihan juga Kaya-chan. Beneran terkejut sama akhir episode nya.

So much things happened in this episode such as Kisaragi station and the Pick Up entity that gives exposure to some of the Japanese folktale. Then there is some revelation regarding Kaya's psychic ability. So definitely getting more and more interesting.

The episode had such long dialogue sequences and lore-dumps, especially the one with Mob in the car. Though, while it kinda took away from the immersion, it also clearly explained the context, I guess. Helping us understand it easier.

Field trip ep gets tense when Kaya and Chie are stranded on a train she can’t exit because of invisible ghosts. The rude oji getting thrown out lands, but Mob tracking them and the visit to her clairvoyant grandma, who knows something about Kaya's mom, deepens the mystery.

Kaya is your typical episodic anime. Regardless, this episode was full of lore, opening different open ended plots with no clear resolution, creating a sense of uneasiness that works perfectly with the show.

Overall the show’s concept of a mystery horror and childcare genre is interesting, but sometimes can contrast one another. Like, Kaya is mysterious but wholesome at the same time. It’s probably because of the sharp contrast between the two concepts.

It had way too many settings crammed into one episode. The beginning train exposition didn’t have much to do with the latter half, but does work well on its own with references to real life myths that I liked. Honestly I wish they explored the first half a bit more.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the near-midpoint of the 12-episode season, Episode 5 pivots from the earlier standalone supernatural encounters into deeper lore territory, building directly on Episode 4's themes of home and belonging. The introduction of Kaya's grandmother opens the door to the Ebisumori family lineage, establishing foundational mythology that subsequent episodes will continue to unravel. This is where the series signals it has a larger story to tell beyond episodic horror vignettes.
