Even before the OP, the episode tells you that something's wrong with Kaya, but at the same time she's still a kid who wants friends and love. The episode did well in introducing the base premise and each characters' role in it, but still hides deeper mysteries for later.

Episode 1 is engaging and sets up an intriguing mystery surrounding the ghost encounters affecting various students. Kaya’s ability to confront and defeat these spirits adds an interesting dynamic, while Ms. Chie appears to understand her situation more than others.

Off to a pretty strong start. The jumpscares are well-timed, and they would probably be scarier if they aren’t offset by the rather childish artwork. Voice-acting of the ghosts are creepy and uncanny enough to dissuade you from thinking this is for kids, though.

Episode 1 brings a mix of slice-of-life comfy atmosphere with a touch of horror, leaving a feeling of unsettlement on how the story would unfold. Coupled with an adorable protagonist and her dynamics with her friends, teachers, and supernatural monsters: this is a very solid EP1
