Episode Context

As episode one of thirteen, this is pure setup. Nanami's world flips entirely, and every major relationship and conflict in the season stems from the events established here. The introduction of Tomoe and the shrine dynamic creates the central tension that will escalate immediately in the next episode, 'The God Becomes a Target,' where Nanami's new role draws real danger. This premiere prioritizes character introductions and tonal groundwork over deep mythology, trusting the short season to layer in complexity quickly.
