i really love how these characters are just total nerds about their own specific interests. the way they talk to each other feels so natural and close to home, just like regular college students hanging out. it is really nice to see a world where being gay is just the total norm

the relationship progression moves at an incredibly rapid pace here. while the conversational flow remains organic, the framing of certain interactions does lean heavily into the typical fetishization that often plagues this specific genre, which is unsurprising but still notable.

I genuinely feel so bad for gujo tho... bro lost from the very beginning. And I cannot believe things are escalating THAT QUICK either. The pacing is going crazy and leaving her completely in the dust.

The contrast between the peaceful footbath in Kawagoe, and Yaeka getting annoyed about Akane choosing her band over them, was a really interesting touch.

Ibuki asking to write Botan name on that matchmaking strip made me so happy and seeing Botan get that flustered was easily the best part of the trip

I was not expecting Botan to suggest a kiss as a penalty for losing the cat game and her drunk energy is seriously on another level today

Watching Kujo try to drive that manual car and stall it immediately was so funny and the transition to the shrine felt really smooth

Kanade drying Botan hair after the rain felt so cozy and it was nice to see them bonding over those old games

You can really tell the animation took a weird turn this week and some of those shots felt like something out of a Shaft show

EPISODE CONTEXT

After Episode 3 placed Botan and Ibuki in a more personal, paired setting, Episode 4 widens the lens to the full dormitory group, letting those developing dynamics breathe within a larger social context. Sitting at the one-third mark of the 12-episode season, this episode functions as a connective bridge, reinforcing bonds across the ensemble before the series likely shifts toward more emotionally charged territory in the second half.
