EPISODE CONTEXT
This is the back half of a two-part New Year's storyline that began in Episode 39, when the kaijuu first arrived at Nushi's grandparents' home and started adjusting to the new environment. Episode 40 closes out that holiday detour, wrapping the visit on a heartfelt note before the series presumably returns the cast to their everyday routines. At Episode 40 of 50, the season is entering its final stretch, making this a brief, breezy breather before the remaining episodes likely build toward a larger conclusion.
