This was a great episode, and I really enjoyed its darker tone. The shift in atmosphere made the episode feel more intense and impactful, making it one of the better episodes so far.

Wow this episode gets dark. The eyepatch's burden finally gets the serious treatment it deserves and I think Jiyu's internal conflict is easily some of the best writing in the series. The shadow heavy direction also looks fantastic.

This episode feels emotionally messy in a way that suits Jiyu perfectly. There’s danger around her, but there are also misunderstandings and feelings she doesn’t really have time to sort through properly. That combination makes everything feel especially overwhelming. After so much eccentric comedy earlier in the series, seeing the atmosphere become this uneasy is quite a shift.
