It was a nice start to the series, and I really enjoyed Jiyu Nanohana and Sai Nanohana’s dynamic. Their combo was one of the highlights for me, and I can’t wait to see more of them in the upcoming episodes.

Jiyu’s peaceful countryside life gets weird almost immediately 😂 Between adjusting to her new home and dealing with Koinosuke’s very serious attitude toward something she finds completely ridiculous, the episode has a fun clash of ordinary school life and old-fashioned samurai business. Jiyu’s reactions make the whole strange situation even more entertaining.

Not gonna lie for me this premiere was a bit of a deag. Watching Jiyu casually deal with Koinosuke’s constant nagging is somewhat funny but the stiff 90s animation and super generic setup make it a bit of a drag to sit through. It honestly feels like a very standard magical girl parody at first and the pacing drags while establishing the premise.
