📖 SYNOPSIS

"Inamura no Hi" recounts the true story of a village's struggle against a catastrophic tsunami. Set in 1854, the narrative unfolds as a powerful earthquake triggers a massive wave. The villagers, however, are slow to react, their ignorance and pride hindering any evacuation efforts. Recognizing the imminent danger, a villager makes a desperate decision. He sets fire to his precious rice grain stacks, known as "inamura," hoping to lure the community to the higher ground of the rice fields to extinguish the flames. This act of self-sacrifice and ingenuity forces the villagers to abandon their homes. As they scramble to save the burning rice, the tsunami crashes into the village, destroying everything in its path. The villagers, however, are spared, their lives saved by the courageous actions of one man. The anime explores themes of community, selflessness, and the importance of heeding warnings in the face of natural disasters.
