In This Corner of the World Ep 1 beautifully captures the bittersweet charm of pre-war Japan. Suzu’s daydreaming and gorgeous, watercolor-like animation mask the underlying tragedy to come. It’s a deeply moving, artistic slice-of-life that hooks you instantly.

Honestly, even though it’s a pretty long movie, I absolutely loved it. What really hooked me from the start was its pacing, it’s slow, calm, and undeniably sad, but it has the perfect tempo for a story about a real life tragedy. It doesn't rush at all, which feels incredibly respectful to a historical wound that still hurts today for japan.

What I highlight the most is how it handles forced maturity and resilience, it leaves you with so many beautiful and heartwarming messages about keeping our humanity intact. A total gem.

A very atmospheric and comforting movie that revolves around world war 2 in Kobe. It stands out as it tells the story of regular people, living and doing their best despite the war. The story progress as the war rage on and even through the desperation, they still keep going on living. As such us humans. A very good movie suitable to watch with your family or lover. I wish there was more told even after the war.

This film feels just like flipping through a beautifully hand-drawn sketchbook. The art style is incredibly unique, using soft, watercolor-like textures that give every frame a gentle, old-school warmth. The story moves at a peaceful pace. This gives us the notion to soak in the simple joys of an ancient era. I felt completely relaxed and charmed by the cozy atmosphere here.
