the crunch of that lettuce is going to live in my head rent free. she panics and stuffs a whole salad in her sleeve the second he knocks. whoever did the sound design for that deserves a raise

She is so determined to drag this potion out for weeks just to keep him walking through her door and the whole time he is ragebaiting himself chasing grasshopper antennae on a full moon. It is hilarious and it is also kind of devastating. The show is basically Monica from Silent Witch if she fell in love with the one person who was nice to her and that is exactly what i wanted. I feel bad for finding it funny but the merchant roasting her height and calling her unrefined had me going. their bickering feels like actual siblings. also confirmation the bottle design bit is just him being a salesman

the watercolor backgrounds do a lot of heavy lifting here. every shot of that lake island feels like a hug which makes the sad parts land harder

that whole capital scene broke me. a kid hearing strangers toast to her grandma dying and then one knight stands up and says even a witch is a human being. thats the moment

The stalling with the ingredient lists is giving me Kaguya vibes in the best way. She is basically making him court her one fetch quest at a time and he has no clue. Painfully relatable honestly

That flashback with young Harij telling the crowd not to celebrate a death hit me way harder than i expected. He had no idea she was listening. That is the whole reason she loves him and he will never know

I sat through the whole lake bit at the end just staring at my screen. The way she says he comes to see the witch not her. That wrecked me more than any big dramatic scene could

Its a good start, have no idea how such a simple premise could make a series but hey, i'll welcome the surprise, decent budget too!

the witches cannot lie rule is such a brutal setup for this kind of story. every time she opens her mouth she has zero armor. no polite little white lies to protect herself from him. just the truth landing on her own heart every single time

WIth a title like this, I (realistically) don't know how this premise can last for a whole series without expanding beyond what's written on the blurb. Nonetheless, for now, it's very much sufficient, and I'm sure we'll expand it in due time. I think this served as a normal enough introduction to our characters and the general premise, and everyone seems compelling enough with this baseline of information. I think there's enough of a story and world here to explore and, even though the basis of our witch liking her crush is pretty much non-existent, everything makes logical sense. Hopefully we continue on a upward trajectory because I think there's enough potential to do so.
