The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A timid count's daughter named Sophia Riller wants nothing more than a quiet school life. She lives in a world where everyone receives a blessing from an animal god when they turn sixteen — think elegant deer gods, graceful bird gods, that sort of thing. Sophia gets blessed by the Gorilla God. The strongest combat blessing in existence, handed to a girl who just wants to read books and not be noticed. Naturally, the Royal Knights immediately recruit her as an apprentice, and her attempts to keep a low profile keep failing because she accidentally does things like destroy training equipment or outperform seasoned knights without trying. The comedy writes itself — she's mortified, the knights around her are genuinely charmed, and the whole thing has this warm, goofy energy where romance slowly creeps in alongside the absurdity. This 12-episode TV series from 2025 sits in a sweet spot between comedy, fantasy, and romance, all wrapped in a school setting. If you liked Villainess Level 99 for the overpowered-girl-who-didn't-ask-for-this vibe, or Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average for the "please just let me be normal" energy, this is in that same lane. The animal god blessing system is a fun twist on power systems, and Sophia's character has more depth than the premise might suggest — her struggle between wanting peace and being unable to avoid the spotlight gives the story something to build on beyond just jokes.
