Synopsis
The VENUS Program is an idol scoring system that is entirely impartial, using AI and data to rank candidates based on an array of factors. To determine the rising stars of the idol industry, the annual VENUS Grand Prix is held utilizing these algorithms. Among all the idols that have participated, none have been as outstanding as Mana Nagase. However, on the day of the tournament's finals, a tragic accident suddenly ends her career. Kouhei Makino, who previously worked as Mana's manager, continues his career at Hoshimi Productions years after her death. Wanting to build a new team of idols, he accepts interviews from various girls. Unexpectedly, one of the interviewees is Kotono Nagase, Mana's younger sister, who is striving to carry on her sister's legacy under the tutelage of her former advisor. Also auditioning is Sakura Kawasaki, whose voice sounds astoundingly similar to that of Mana. Both Kotono and Sakura pass the evaluations, joining a group of eight other aspiring young girls. Living in a shared dormitory, the 10 members work together to learn more about what it means to harmonize as a team. United by an ambitious endeavor, the girls compete their way to the top as they traverse through the unforgiving world of idols.

By far, this is the idol story with the most emotional depth. The lore is incredibly rich if we ignore the somewhat cheap writing at the end of the story, which was to be expected. The concept and genre were executed brilliantly, making it feel fresh compared to other love stories I've watched. It's not just a regular idol show; it's the deepest idol story I've experienced. With great execution, a great studio behind it, and strong production overall, they successfully hooked viewers from Episode 1. How can a premise be this good? 9.8/10 my final score.
This episode is so ass, bro- sobs . I mean it, bro- sobs . Why would anyone even bother watching this episode... IT WOULD'VE BEEN BETTER IF THIS SHOW NEVER EXISTED AT ALL, DANG IT! JEEZ, THE STORY IS HELLA GREAT. It's one of the most creative and depressing stories I've seen. IT'S JUST AN IDOL SHOW, WHY CAN'T YOU BE NORMAL LIKE EVERYONE ELSE?!?!!? I DON'T WANT THIS, I DON'T WANT IT!!! THIS IS WORSE THAN THE THIRD IMPACT, ACKKK. I swear to God, the tension and buildup toward the climax were heavenly. If I were alone in the house, I would've cried my eyes out watching this episode. Everything was so painful to watch that I could only complain about one thing and it doesn't even need complaining. After the climax, y'all decided to move forward and hit us with HELLA FLUID ANIMATION???!!? I AM SO DEPRESSED AFTER WATCHING THIS EVEN THOUGH IT'S SO GOATED.
Last episode before the finale. Jeez, it feels so unfair, y'know? LizNoir's songs are more metallic pop, while Tsuki no Tempest leans toward a catchy pop style. Both are great, but they're not even the same genre, so I wonder how it'll turn out? That aside, this episode was very emotional indeed, and that's exactly why I loved it.
Why does Van Production's director look like he's about to start the Third Impact? LOL Anyways, the performance was spectacular. It wasn't anything particularly special to me, the debut performance still stands above this one in many aspects but we gotta respect it since Sakura finally got to be herself. Must watch/10, no cap. Ain't no way you skipping the last three episodes.
Bro... they straight up gave us a mountain of lore in this episode. Not a single thing was held back, they revealed everything we needed to know about our girl. The song sounded absolutely angelic. It's so beautiful, like HOLYYY. I can't say much about this episode because pretty much everything in it is lore-heavy. However, don't even think about skipping this episode, it was a must must must a watch episode.
WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?!? Do you really think you could hide all that with nothing more than an “Oh, I can’t tell you that, it’s a secret,” despite all that obvious evidence? That aside, this episode was very impactful for Kotono and Tsuki no Tempest. The emotional weight hit hard for them. They used the live performance as the ending sequence, with no especially fluid animation, but it still works fine as a closer. Worth watching? Definitely yes.
THEY BROKE THE MATRIX!! In a holiday episode, they somehow chose to make it feel more down to earth than ever. Unlike most anime, this episode is way more relatable and actually accessible when you think about it. It's not that important to the overall story, aside from one major revelation and all the wholesome moments... plus that dynamic duo... god dang it!
I'm... speechless. When I said Makino's decision was correct, no, it was perfect. The contrast, ambience, and overall vibe were all perfectly set up in this episode. Every directing choice they made was hella creative. The blend of 3D and 2D animation worked really well, except for one thing, the camera movement. It felt a bit flat considering how fluid the animation was. Ngl, they could've done better. The performance was an absolute menace, and even the moments after the performance were incredibly impactful. "Beautiful" is the word I'd use to describe this episode.
Pfft, aight bro, you definitely look 17. The cheap comedy somehow keeps getting me.... am I getting old or what? However, this is another turning point for the group. The decision Makino made was correct, after all, he was guided by the mighty idol herself. The plot relevance is high, and I'd definitely recommend watching this episode. Plus, they packed a lot of symbolism into it.
Ay Makino, ma boy, don't just run around recruiting girls like they're pokemon brahh. We got a new guest in this episode, another bright star that'll help light up their future. That said, I can't stop glazing the 2D animation they pulled off. That's not even sakuga, it's fully rendered, they poured all their effort into the dance scenes 😭. The ending even had a different song, this show is straight up luxury fr. So is it a must watch? For comedy and a chill, absolutely. For the plot? Not really.
Great ending to the series! Everything was resolved perfectly, and although I DO think the plot was somewhat predictable in some places, it was still good! And I’ll say it again, their performance, especially at the very end, was really awesome! The vocals, their outfits, were all so cute💅🏻 they truly deserve to be idols HAHA. Overall pretty solid watch, really stable pacing and I’d give it a 7/10✨
Another banger of an episode. Love the resolution between Kotono’s past, but I really did wish they gave her a longer and deeper scene surrounding her relationship with Mana😭 but overall, still really good! And again, without surprise, the performances for both teams were amazing!
Alright, really solid episode! Really liked how they gave us a bit of back story to both teams to not make it seem extremely biased, and genuinely, both teams had amazing performances! Loved the animation during those scenes.
Oh wow, this may be my favorite episode🥹 so many lore was unexpectedly dropped and the advice Mana gave for Sakura was extremely beautiful, and while some people may find it cringey, I thought it was such a nice message to give, even for someone who’s not an idol! And the ending song and performance was just perfect! It had phenomenal vocals and it portrayed the characters really well✨
After a light-hearted vibes episode before, they really flipped the switch and raised the more gloomy and serious atmosphere in this one. And for starters, the rival groups should just mind their own business😭🫵🏻 but nevertheless, the little bits of drama and problems they have as an idol is much more preferable than an unrealistic happy go lucky vibe all the time.
The mandatory beach/ summer episode haha. But I really liked this episode! The vibes were very airy and chill as we see the more fun side of the girls in their daily lives. Definitely a refreshing one after multiple episodes of debut problems and stress 😭
Oh I love where the plot is going, especially with the rival group and all. And also loved seeing the girls’ preparation for their debut. Everyone is getting antsy and can’t wait for what happens next!! Ps. Their new debut song lowkey sounded so amazing✨
Okay, when I said I like the snappy pace of this series, I fear they’re being a bit TOO fast paced 😭 I feel like some problems that an idol faces was solved too quickly! Even when they made the new groups and have new members, everyone seemingly agreed on things very quickly without any hesitation, which realistically is a good thing, but it sadly makes the story a bit too surface level, and they really missed a chance to add another layer to the plot. But overall, still a solid episode!
Definitely a slower paced one compared to previous episodes. But regardless, the portrayal of idol training life is really entertaining to see and the little comedic bits that’s brought in by the new character is also really fun to see✨ and I don’t know if this counts as a spoiler, but literally how many more girls is Makino trying to add to the group😭 it’s a whole village at this point HAHA
I am actually impressed at how great the pacing is for this series! It does an amazing job making the story snappy but still interesting, while managing to capture the drama aspect at the same time✨ the story itself is progressing really nicely and I’m loving the group dynamic of the girls.
