CONVENIENT HEALING MAGIC.
Very mellow mood overall, a lot of mystery still in the air. There's probably something dark going on. With a tat of spice being Yuri

I’ve been waiting for this to be animated ever since! Its a very unique perspective about war and also immortality. Also i love the side characters so much! Overall they did a great job animating this series I’m so happy . 😭🀍

The art style is amazing, as well as Sheena's internal monologue. It really sets the tone of the story. Kinda feel bad for Mimi, looks like she's already desensitized at a young age T^T

Using kids as weapons isn't uncommon in anime but for some reason, this one hits differently πŸ€” maybe it's the storytelling? Or maybe bc our MC is from a 'weak' character POV? Anyway, the soundtrack is so good too!

Very unique premise. Didn’t expect this anime to make me think a lot just from the first episode hmm hmm. I might need a few more watches to get used to it, but the story is very intriguing

I felt so uneasy when Mimi was covered in blood but still asking for a rice ball and Sheena looked terrified but she still gave it to her anyway

Everyone acting like that girl dying was just a normal Tuesday really shows how messed up this school is and Sheena is the only one who actually seems to care about the people they lost

The contrast between the cute character designs and the fact that they are literally training child weapons is so jarring, especially when you see those empty coffins in the chapel during the funeral service

The animation on the magic spells looks really crisp and it makes the dark setting feel even more heavy when you see how weak Sheena is compared to the other students

That moment when Sheena said the kiss tasted like blood actually made me shiver and the way Mimi just points at her and shouts rice ball person in class is adorable

I cannot get over the fact that Mimi just casually kissed Sheena because she thought it would fix a stomach ache and the blood on her face from earlier was terrifying

This show is doing a lot with the contrast between the cute character designs and the absolute horror of child soldiers. Watching Sheena hug that stuffed bunny, while everyone else ignores the empty coffins, is a lot to process. Then Mimi just walks in and treats war like a game but she still wants to be a good roommate to Sheena

You see those two girls on the stairs and think it is just a sweet moment but then you realize it is literally just a way to fix wounds and that is so bleak

Mimi asking for a rice ball while covered in blood was so jarring and the way these kids act like death is a Tuesday makes you feel uneasy

The story jumps right in so you know what you are getting yourself into. The Art was beautiful and the 3D aspects really stood out. The characters are not one-dimensional. The music was also really good.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the series premiere, this episode has no precedent to build from β€” it is purely foundational, tasked with establishing the rules, tone, and emotional stakes of the world. It introduces Sheena and Mimi and plants the seeds of their central relationship, which will clearly drive the overarching narrative. Everything set here β€” the orphanage, the war, the emotional contrast between the two leads β€” feeds directly into the conflicts and bonds the rest of the season will explore.
