Synopsis
Where anime romances typically end at the confession or the wedding, this one starts after both. Kaoru is a 25-year-old office lady who works hard, drinks harder, and somehow fell in love with Hajime, a 23-year-old shut-in otaku who makes a living blogging about anime and manga from their apartment. She doesn't really get his references. He doesn't really get why she cries when she's drunk. They love each other anyway. This TV series is built on a simple but weirdly rare premise: what does a relationship actually look like day-to-day when two very different people share a life together? Each of the 13 episodes runs about three minutes, so the whole thing is shorter than a movie. You can finish it in one sitting without even trying. The short format works in its favor: every episode is a tight little sketch about their married life, whether it's Hajime dragging Kaoru into his otaku world or Kaoru trying to have a normal dinner conversation while her husband quotes visual novels. The tone is warm and comedic without being saccharine. It's genuinely affectionate toward both characters and never makes fun of their relationship for being odd. If you liked Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku but wanted something more low-key and domestic, or if you enjoyed the grown-up relationship vibes of Ojisan and Marshmallow, this scratches a similar itch. Based on a 4-koma manga and animated by Studio Seven, it's a small, charming thing that earns its sweetness.

A self-aware styled ending with a final reference to a slice-of-life anime ending. A must-watch episode with the culmination of everything leading to this moment.
Its christmas, but Kaoru has to work. A cute episode showing how Hajime cares for Kaoru a lot. So much so that he can't fully relax knowing that Kaoru is still working.
We get a look into Kaoru's past. Less focused on relationship elements and more on her worries about her own life before she met Hajime. There's also a sudden change in visual tone, very fitting for a flashback episode.
We are introduced to Hajime's side of the family, as well as Kaoru and Hajime planning what they need to start a family in the future.
Mayotama wants some material for his manga so he asks Kaoru and Hajime about their first date. We get a glimpse into the early days of their relationships with a few comedic moments scattered throughout.
Quite an innocent episode as we take a look into what it's like if Hajime and Kaoru have a kid together because a surprise babysitting request.
Kaoru tries her hand at cooking for Hajime, which leads to a look at her side of the family. A fun backstory about Kaoru's parents and Hajime's suprising talent.
Kaoru suddenly falls ill, Hajime does his best to look after her, but what's the cause of her illness? An episode that reminds us how these two care alot for one another despite being an awkward couple.
A Kaoru focused episode revolving around her behaviour when drunk. Some people might be sensitive to people forcing themselves onto others while drunk, but it's mostly for comedic purposes and to highlight the bond between them.
Hajime decides to find a job, much to Kaoru's delight. However, things don't go as planned, but sometimes setbacks can lead to unexpected opportunities.
An episode where the two brothers meet some of their online friends in an offline meetup. Surprisingly, we meet an acquaintance of Hajime at the meetup and many funny misunderstandings ensue.
We are introduced to more supporting characters, such as Kaoru's friends as well as the husband's otaku little brother. Another episode filled with quirky gags, fun character interactions and references.
A fast-paced gag comedy anime with each episode only lasting about 3 minutes. We get to see into the lives of our main leads as well as their personalities. A great watch, but only if you enjoy the comedy here.
"It's the same sense of loss I feel when a slice-of-life anime series ends." LOL. I totally get him, and I'm glad he acknowledged that. 🤣 This was actually fun if you ignore the weird parts, and I even ended up rooting for them. I might check out the second season just for the bomb they dropped. 😱
Aww, poor guy. 😭 This was a realistic depiction of what Christmas is like when you're an adult. Usually in anime, a Christmas episode means it's gonna be lots of fun, but for this one, it's actually very real. I really appreciate that they show how much Hajime loves his wife despite his goofy personality.
Wow, the art style change was unexpected but very fitting. We get to know more about Kaoru's life before getting married, and this episode was actually more serious (and very real), but the end is sweet.
For this episode, we finally meet one of Hajime's parents, and it's his mother. The topic takes a bit of a mature turn—you'll know if you watch the episode. It's still hilarious, though. The anime references got me. 🤣
We get a glimpse of the couple's past and how they started dating. Of course, it's anything but ordinary, as expected. 🤣 This was actually really funny. The dad's reaction made me laugh.
Hajime's expressions are always so funny to me. The couple takes care of Kaoru's relative's kid and of course, a lot happens. I do not like the "lolicon" jokes. The rest was pretty wholesome.
Ignoring episode 5 (I'm gonna pretend it never happened), they actually fit each other so well. I appreciate how they both do their part and the husband takes good care of Kaoru. I don't remember if they ever mentioned his name, but yeah. This was cute.
