EPISODE CONTEXT
Coming directly after Gon's departure from Whale Island in Episode 1, this installment introduces Leorio and Kurapika — the two characters who will form Gon's core group throughout the Hunter Exam and beyond. As a filler episode, it expands on their initial meeting with material not strictly from the source, but it lays relational groundwork that pays off once the exam challenges ramp up in subsequent episodes. It's the bridge between Gon's isolated island life and the gauntlet that awaits.
