Episode Context

The first two episodes established the group dynamic and hinted at romantic tensions simmering beneath the surface, episode 3 crystallizes those hints into clearly defined unrequited feelings, particularly around Mayama and Yamada. Sitting early in a 24-episode run, this is a foundational emotional episode that defines the relationship geometry driving the rest of the season. The groundwork laid here directly fuels the increasingly complex entanglements and character growth that will unfold across the coming arcs.
