Holmes of Kyoto Episode 3: The Case of the Mt. Kurama Estate Inheritance

The truth is, I'm suffering a bit watching this anime because it's really boring me. The most noteworthy aspect of the episode is the art dedicated to the backgrounds and portraying Kyoto's culture; it's beautiful. However, it only serves to highlight how poorly done the animation and character designs are. The misaligned eyes on the protagonists' faces are particularly distracting and pull us out of the beauty of their surroundings. This episode is a simple mystery, and you need to abstract yourself from why someone possessed scrolls that specifically explained their relationship with their family if you don't want to break the immersion. The characters certainly don't contribute much personality beyond providing clues to help solve the mystery, except for one who seems to be joining the cast. If that's the case, I'll be very grateful, because neither Aoi nor Holmes have any personality beyond their representative tropes: the innocent apprentice and the mysterious detective.

A very neutral episode with another mystery that makes use of Holmes' background as an appraiser. It's an episode that allows us to learn one fact about Holmes' personal life, but other than that, if you don't like mystery concerning family drama, it's a bit of bland episode.

This episode was better than the last one. However, I didn't like how it revealed the culprit right at the beginning and then acted as if the audience didn't already know who it was. Once again, the mystery was solved in a flash, but I didn't really mind since there wasn't much to investigate in the first place. I also liked the conclusion to the case, although the last part felt a bit questionable. Overall good episode
