I honestly think calling Yagashira Holmes is unnecessary; I don't think it's necessary to give a detective-like air to a guy who's merely observant. Besides, his deductions are correct because of the plot; the clues aren't strong enough to reach a conclusive resolution, but they work because he must be right. The story is quite bland, and it was obvious who the culprit was. Honestly, the only enjoyable thing was learning a bit about Kyoto culture; however, when they use static chibi characters for explanations, it feels like they put very little effort into it. Let me tell you something: just because it's a cozy mystery doesn't mean it should be sloppy in its execution.

I am beginning to appreciate the little details made in regards to antique and artwork, and also reflected to the clues of the mystery. The mystery itself is simple but doesn't leave a lot of clues that allows the viewers to follow the logic. It only allowed glimpse of the growing dynamic between Holmes and Aoi that could have done better.

To be honest, with "Holmes" in the title, I expected the series to have more "heavier" case. That doesn't mean I dislike mundance mysteries like this one, though. Unfortunately, the episode itself felt rather average, and there was barely any mystery since Holmes solved the case almost immediately.
