Synopsis
At school, Umaru Doma is known as the girl everyone wishes they could be: top grades, gorgeous, athletic, beloved by classmates and teachers alike. Then she walks through her front door, throws on a hamster hoodie, and turns into a two-foot-tall gremlin who survives on potato chips and video games. Her poor older brother Taihei has to deal with this transformation every single day. That's basically the whole premise of this 12-episode TV series, and it works way better than it has any right to. The comedy lives in the contrast between Umaru's flawless public image and her absolute trainwreck home life, plus the supporting cast adds a lot: Ebina is the shy friend with a crush on Taihei, Kirie is the quiet girl who accidentally becomes devoted to Umaru's chibi form, and Sylphynford is the self-appointed rival who has no idea what she's actually competing against. Doga Kobo nails the visual gag of Umaru shrinking into this round little chibi blob whenever she's in lazy mode, and the opening theme will be stuck in your head for weeks whether you want it there or not. The vibe is pure comfort food: low stakes, warm sibling bickering, and a lot of otaku in-jokes. If you liked the cozy everyday humor of Lucky Star or the sibling dynamic in something like Eromanga-sensei but want it cleaner and goofier, this fits right in that lane. It's short, easy to watch, and genuinely funny if you've ever hidden your real hobbies from the outside world.

When we first start watching, we again see the classic dynamic between Umaru and her Onii-chan. But what makes this episode more emotive is that at the end we can see how deep Taihei loves her Little sister, and how much he cares about her, so that he could even think about improving her "Onii-chan" made lunch". Pd: I rate visual in almost four, because the visual does not improve at some different level, but does not decline either.

A truly enjoyable episode. A fun summer with Umaru’s friends. This time, it wasn’t boring at all.
An episode where Umaru gradually starts paying more attention to his older brother. We learn the story behind why Umaru likes to play with the claw machine
Decent anime, I guess. The disguises are totally top-notch, one hairstyle change and your own brother can't recognise you anymore. And ofc they had to have a beach episode to end it for fanservice. Mid anime overall to be completely honest, at least it wasn't that annoying.
Kinda mid on the pacing but otherwise wholesome. Love how hardworking her older brother is, and so amazingly patient. Also, I relate to the rainy season mood; it is definitely for sleeping in and cuddling<3
Well, at least we get to see Umaru somewhat worried for her older brother. I love the dynamic between Taihei and his friends, too. He could totally be a gamer like her younger sister, too, if he wanted to that is<3
To echo what I said in the previous episode's review, Ebina is absolutely adorable. The vibe of this anime is extremely wholesome, minus Umaru's manipulative tendencies. TSF and UMR getting along is extremely wholesome too<3
I like how all the characters are somehow connected. Bomber is annoying, but I suppose a bit entertaining. Kirie is adorable, and so is Ebina. It was somewhat wholesome to see Umaru wait for her older brother to celebrate Christmas with her little reindeer horns<3
Yeah, Umaru lowkey is a pain in the ass. The manipulative tendencies with her brother are crazy, and the fact that he puts up with them every time is even more unfortunate. Bomber is lowkey weird</3
Taihei is honestly a great big brother; My impatient ass could never. Also loved the bit with the room division, guess they really can't live without each other, which is pretty cute. Also birthday prep awwww.
Ngl, Umaru does have the best ideas when it comes to snacks, games and relaxation. Nice of her to let her rival win. The arcade was fun, and I love the number of hoodies Umaru owns.
Ebina is just adorable, Tachibana is a pain in the ass, and Kirie is surprisingly great at tennis. I loved the Pokémon re-enactment too, downright adorable. Umaru is likeable when she isn't manipulative.
Kirie really is the queen of delulu<3 She gives stalker and kinda concerning vibes, but I suppose she's harmless.... Overall, pretty decent episode.
If I were that brother, dude, that girl would've been out of my house. Ain't no one worth all that trouble. Idk how I was able to blissfully watch this shit as a kid, but it's unfortunate how I can point out all the flaws in Umaru now</3
Umaru is lowkey manipulative, but ig everyone focuses on how cute the anime is or how cool it is how she splits her personality, and how amazing it is when she scores exceptionally. Overall, a pretty good watch if you ignore everything negative.
It’s still about Umaru’s "lack of independence" and annoying behavior, but we’re starting to see character development in Umaru’s friends
Episode 8 is like a kaleidoscope of Umaru. It features Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Watching this makes you want Christmas to come soon.
This episode is finally starting to come together. It feels more natural, with many more touching moments
