Himitsukessha Taka no Tsume XX
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At the helm of a secret society called Eagle Talon is a 55-year-old man steering their quest for world domination, and they are comically terrible at it. His crew includes a 24-year-old who acts like a literal child, a shy ex-heavy metal vocalist, a genius scientist who looks like a teddy bear, and a small boy with dormant psychic powers. Together they hatch schemes from their base in Kojimachi, Tokyo, and every single plan gets foiled by Deluxe Fighter — a superhero who's both narcissistic and a total coward. The villains are more likable than the hero, the hero is more pathetic than the villains, and nobody is actually good at their job. That's the whole dynamic, and it somehow never gets old. This ONA marks the 20th anniversary of the Taka no Tsume franchise, animated by DLE in their signature Flash style — deliberately cheap-looking, which only makes the comedy land harder. The humor leans heavily on fourth-wall breaks, satire, and the kind of absurd failure loops where you start rooting for the bad guys out of pity. If you liked the villain-hero role reversal in Tentai Senshi Sunred, or the chaotic parody energy of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, this hits a similar nerve but with way less production budget and way more self-awareness about it. It's the kind of show where low stakes and goofy characters just make for a genuinely relaxing watch.
