This episode really shows why it’s “Hellsing”; the hellish war is coming. The back and forth between Hellsing and Millennium gives that overwhelming ambience and dynamic storytelling. I love when characters are evil just for the sake of it — no justification needed.

Millennium makes its first major move with the incident involving Rip Van Winkle, an elite sharpshooter of Millennium. This episode also features the iconic war monologue of the Major, which serves as great characterization for him and as a formal declaration of war.

This episode was full of bloodshed. Storyline focused on Seras acceptance of being Vampire. More big wars on the way. Old Nazis vs British thats tensed me off.

The scene between Integra and Seras was a bit awkward to watch lol, but Alucard's fight on the ship was really so cool and stunning; the graphics were so smooth. The ending felt a bit slow because of the long speech!

The contrast between Rip Van Winkle’s operatic singing and the brutal takeover of the Eagle is chilling. Pacing is a slow burn at first, but Alucard crashing a literal SR-71 Blackbird into the ship is peak anime hype. He’s the real monster here.

Although this episode is mainly a setup for things to come in the series, with a bit slower pacing and action sequences, this one still delivers. It has one of the coolest Alucard's coolest moments and violence that will delight the most diehard of horror anime fans.

The story of hellsing is fast and deadly, but here is where we get to see some of the darker side of Hellsing poke through. At the end of the day, these "heroic monsters" (if such a thing exists) actually show some more of their true colors.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the series' midpoint transition, Episode 4 marks the critical shift from the standalone supernatural encounters of Episodes 1-3 into the overarching war narrative that defines Hellsing Ultimate's second half. The Millennium group, hinted at in earlier episodes, moves from the shadows into a direct and unavoidable threat. Everything here is infrastructure for the large-scale conflict that Episodes 5 through 10 will unleash.
