Hellsing
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Charged with protecting England from vampires, the Hellsing Organization's best weapon happens to be one. Alucard is an ancient, absurdly powerful vampire who works for the British crown, and watching him operate is like watching a cat toy with its food, except the food is other monsters. In the first episode, he's sent to a village overrun by ghouls and casually dismantles everything in his path with a single handgun. Along the way, a young police officer named Seras Victoria gets caught in the crossfire and has to make an impossible choice: die, or become the thing she was fighting. She chooses to live, and her struggle to adjust to vampire existence while working alongside Alucard gives the show its emotional core. This is a 13-episode TV series from Gonzo that leans hard into gothic horror: heavy shadows, blood-soaked action, and a soundtrack by Yasushi Ishii that drips atmosphere. The tone is dark and deliberate, closer to a horror film than a typical shonen slugfest. If you enjoyed the moody vampire aesthetics of Blood+ or the supernatural warfare of Trinity Blood, this hits a similar nerve but with more bite. Fans of Devil May Cry's stylish, over-the-top combat will feel right at home too. It's a seinen adaptation, so expect it to stay violent and unapologetic about it. Short enough to finish in a weekend, dark enough to stick with you after.

The balance between setpieces and atmosphere springkled throughout does it for me. Not to mention I said this many times on my review that the goated & peak soundtrack absolutely carried the finale. Definitely recommended if you're into gothic theme! 🦇🦇
Very action-heavy! Explosions, gunfights, monsters... exactly what I expected from this masterpiece. It also keeps enough emotional weight to make the fights feel like they actually matter and kept you wanting more as well as care about the cast that involved.
As expected everything is building toward the finale now, and the pacing reflects that just right. It doesn't feel rushed at all. Instead, it keeps stacking tension one scene after another, revealing one thing after another, until you know something huge is about to happen.
Very important episode as it shows some of the most and crucial momments that sents the foundation of the story. Lots of tension, lots of spotlight for our MC so i guess you have to expect that when diving in. Soundtrack on this especially during the surgery scenesis peak peak peakkk!!
New character thrown right at ya which gives a sense of a worldbuilding. Atmpspere was great from start to end, and the sense of build up which i cannot explain honestly was great, helps carries the show even on the more slow-paced and should i say "boring" episodes. (I did not mean any insult by that btw).
Starts off immidiately with a BOOM, like.. literally.. just watch the episode! The tension keeps building throughout the whole 22 minutes. Plenty of hints and overshadowings also I really like how the show doesn't rush it. Had to give special shoutout to the soundtrack.. it's ridiculously good.
Much slower at least at the beginning, things start slowly moving more and more faster from the middle though so just be patient. More politics, more worldbuilding, and some interesting new faces that most definitely seems like an importan character for the future episodes. Overall solid episode but do take your time on this one.
Heck.. it does seem like every new episode I watched becomes my favourite LOL. The fights are awesome, but what really stood out was seeing just how terrifying Alucard actually is. Oh and I think Walter is just as goated, unique fighting style combined with that classic oldie animation styles is just chefs kiss~~
I love how this show doesn't spend forever setting things up before throwing everyone into chaos. They NAILED the sense of "oomph" on every scene especially when there is action involved, and Alucard never disappoints whenever he decides to get serious, I'll always say "uh oh here he comes" whenever I saw that iconic grin of His..
So far i am liking the eerie and creepy vibes this show provide me. It leans heavily into horror instead of action gunfights, and honestly I think it works. The atmosphere alone carries most of the episode, i think it is one of the most underrated aspects of what makes a show great!
Oooouuu, now we're getting somewhere. As the old saying goes, 'the plot thickens .' There is plenty of information and lore sprouting from this very episode, along with many eerie moments and more pieces of the puzzle falling into place. Definitely one of the most important episodes to watch if you want to know more about the worldbuilding~
Really fun episode., I really like how it focuses more on the psychological side of what is life like as a Vampire for our female lead character. Still bringing a solid pace and quality over from the prevvious episode🔥
GOATED EPISODE! This anime screams early 2000s gothic vibes, and I love every second of it. The soundtrack, flow, and overall atmosphere hooked me almost immediately. The action doesn't waste any time either, and the MC's introduction is cold as hell, Alucard is arguably one of the most badass MCs out there!
