EPISODE CONTEXT
This episode marks the close of Haruka's opening arc, in which Akane's long journey to assemble all eight of her Hachiyou guardians reaches its conclusion. What preceded it was the gradual, sometimes fraught process of forging those alliances; what follows is a harder, more dangerous chapter as the Oni clan's threat moves from background menace to active conflict. Episode 13 functions as the pivot point between those two halves of the season.
