the match between these two teams is actually really fun to watch. in a sense, it doesn't make your tummy hurt with intense anxiousness like usual, so you can actually just sit back and enjoy the game for once. this was just a pretty fun and relaxing episode all around

concluding the match via an unforced error from terushima's overambitious synchronized attack perfectly encapsulates the fatal flaw of jouzenji's overly playful philosophy. it is a mechanically sound and thematically appropriate victory for karasuno.

Episode Context

Sitting at the midpoint of Season 2's 25 episodes, 'Next' continues Karasuno's tournament run and tests whether the new skills they've been developing can hold up against unorthodox opposition. It follows their earlier tournament victories and raises the stakes heading into their upcoming clash with Wakutani Minami High. This stretch of episodes is where Karasuno's growth stops being theoretical and starts getting pressure-tested match by match.
