So now is where the real story starts, the arrival of a new face here was great and it seemed like it's the catalyst for the plot progression. The pacing here made me feel like every chance encounter here was natural and not scripted. Also realizing that the students are drafted soldiers made each encounter here feel more weight.

Not a fan of Hayami right now and the new girl is pretty off putting so far. I hope they get some character development somehow.

The episode is a bit dry, maybe because of the solemness of the background music.. But i do like the military setup.. Also, it feels the episode's pacing fell back..

Episode Context

Coming directly off Episode 1's world-building and character introductions, this episode shifts focus inward, using Mai Shibamura's integration into the platoon as the lens through which relationships begin to take shape. It functions as an early foundation episode, establishing the interpersonal dynamics, particularly between Hayami and Shibamura, that the rest of the 12-episode season will develop and test. What gets planted here in terms of trust and tension is likely to pay off significantly in the episodes ahead.
