Grenadier: The Beautiful Warrior
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Armed with a warm smile and a hug rather than brute force, gunslinger Rushuna Tendō makes her way through a medieval Japan-inspired world with a genuinely unusual goal: she wants to end conflicts not by outgunning everyone, but by disarming opponents with kindness. It sounds absurd, and the show knows it, but she also happens to be one of the most accurate shooters alive, so she gets plenty of chances to prove her philosophy works. When a cynical samurai-for-hire named Yajirō stumbles across her while fleeing from a failed rescue mission, he's skeptical of pretty much everything she stands for. She helps him anyway. He begrudgingly joins her journey. That's your setup. The show runs 12 episodes and keeps things light: it's action and comedy in roughly equal measure, with ecchi humor baked in throughout, so go in knowing that's part of the package. The gunfight choreography is genuinely fun to watch, and Rushuna's character has more going on than her first impression suggests. If you liked the wandering-gunfighter energy of Trigun or the chaotic female-led action of Burst Angel, this sits comfortably in that same neighborhood. It's not trying to be deep, but the core dynamic between a warmhearted idealist and a battle-hardened pragmatist gives it enough texture to stay interesting across its short run. A casual watch for when you want something action-focused that doesn't take itself too seriously.

As a last episode is one of the best I have seen, is real clever using all what happened earlier and I loved how all was resolved, not specially deep but I really liked it ;) Plus, the battle and action scenes were tense and real exciting!
The episode was surprisingly interesting, even though some things were easy to guess it left me hanging and wanting to watch more.
This one is actually a real important episode, all characters, ideas and things we have seen now make sense and matter, I am eager yo see what goes next!
This episode is great, not only for the emotional core but also because Yajiro took protagonism in the best way, everything was neatly integrated and I would definetly recomend it.
I really liked this episode, not only by some context and character develop, but also because I found interesting how Rushuna treats Teppa, I liked the music and animation a lot:)
We can see in this episode who is behind Rushuna´s defamation, and how people try beat her in many ways, I think the rest quality traits rrmain the same so I´m expectant.
It was the first ep with continuity on a history instead of it ending on just one, some attacks were great added with all the emotion, I´m glad Yajiro finally did something.
This episode was ordinary, I wouldn´t say it is specially good on any sense, though it does says important things for the plot.
This episode was quite weak in terms of plot, the villain, compared to the previous one, was very poorly done, visually ridiculous, and I don't think he contributes much to the story. It seemed like a filler episode, the only important thing happened in the last 5 seconds.
I really liked this ep, the wtiting and lore expanded, I think the anime is getting better by the episode; also that we got to see other face of Rushuna, all was relavitely good:)
This episode had the same animation, there were more spanish music, the story it´s getting to an interesting path and it was enjoyable due to the more action scenes.
As a starter of the points of this first episode I can say has a pretty good animation for the year it was made: which was 2004, I believe it has some gaps and give very few details about the story coming up.
A spectacular, emotionally satisfying way to end the season. Studio Live puts their maximum effort into the ultimate quick-draw showdown, filling the screen with bright muzzle flashes, shattering metal debris, and a beautiful, blinding sunlight filter. It perfectly brings Rushuna’s philosophy of peaceful smiles to a triumphant visual close
Intense, fast-paced corridor combat. The visual framing utilizes tight camera angles and rapid panning shots inside the burning palace hallways to elevate the claustrophobic tension. The graphics showcase crumbling stone structures and flickering fire reflections, mirroring the desperate nature of the final push.
A massive, city-wide military escalation. The animation quality spikes as the entire urban landscape turns into an open war zone filled with rising smoke clouds and blazing cannon fire. The graphics use high-contrast lighting to show the devastating impact of the rebel army’s heavy artillery units.
A deadly, graceful musical performance. The visual effects track almost invisible, razor-sharp metallic threads glowing under the moonlight. The animation is wonderfully fluid, capturing the intricate finger movements of the assassin as she manipulates her lethal musical instrument to trap her prey.
Deep lore reveals take center stage in the grand audience chamber. The animation uses soft, ethereal lens flares around the mysterious figure of the Emperor to present a divine, royal presence. The quiet framing focuses heavily on shocked facial expressions as deep, historical secrets are unveiled.
A swift transition into high-class royal aesthetics. The background layouts shift from rugged dirt wilderness to the immense, sprawling architecture of the imperial palace. The graphics highlight grand marble pillars, gold-trimmed tapestries, and polished castle floors, amplifying the scale of their mission.
A whimsical but surprisingly dangerous combat concept. The visual direction explodes with bright reds and pinks as Mikan uses her highly explosive carnival props. The animators blend playful, bouncy movement with high-stakes tension, making the floating balloon traps feel like a genuinely creative aerial hazard
High-octane action meets heavy mechanical armour. The graphics look fantastic as Teppa Aizen enters the battlefield wearing thick, highly detailed protective metal plating. The animation utilises bright yellow sparks and sharp collision sounds to emphasise the raw power behind his heavily reinforced weapon strikes.
