EPISODE REVIEWS

The animation style of this anime still holds up surprisingly well, especially considering it was released 18 years ago. I’m really curious to see what kind of story it has in store by the end, especially since this is only my second time reviewing a supernatural and bizarre anime.

I was excited while watching the episode because it’s an old horror series. The way the show plays out looks like a direct visualization of the images you would imagine, as a kid, while listening to horror stories in the ’90s or '80s. The animation matches that vibe, and to think that this was based on something from the ’50s or ’60s. It feels like a living comic or manga from that era. It has a strong sense of nostalgia for me, which makes it more enjoyable. For a series that draws its story and style from decades-old material, the fact that it has aged well, and that the story still holds up, has earned my praise.
