EPISODE REVIEWS

evaluating this strictly as a comedy anime, it occasionally succeeds. however, as a sports anime, it fails entirely. the plot refuses to move forward in favor of festival gags and fake-dating tropes.

Episode Context

Coming off Episode 3's deeper dive into the actual diving world, Episode 4 serves as a comedic breather that prioritizes character bonding over plot progression, a smart move at the one-third mark of this 12-episode season. The festival setting strengthens the group dynamics within Peek-a-Boo, particularly between Iori and the core cast, laying essential groundwork for the evolving relationship dynamics that Episode 5 picks up more directly. It's a character-building comedy episode that earns its place by deepening the ensemble chemistry the back half of the season depends on.
