Episode Context

Sitting deep in the Yoshiwara in Flames arc, this episode follows Episode 140's escalation where Yoshiwara's enforcers, the Hyakka, moved against Seita, and raises the stakes dramatically by introducing Kamui and the Harusame pirates into the conflict. It serves as a crucial setup episode, establishing the power dynamics and personal rivalries that will drive the confrontations in Episode 142 and beyond as Gintoki's crew pushes deeper into Yoshiwara to complete their rescue mission.
