Episode Context

Sitting at episode 46 of 51, this is deep into the Farewell Shinsengumi arc, one of Gintama's most consequential storylines, following directly from the capture of Kondo and Katsura that raised the stakes in the preceding episode. The rescue mission here serves as the arc's critical escalation point, directly setting up the next episode, 'Stray Dogs,' where the fallout from this operation reshapes character trajectories heading into the season's final stretch.
