Episode Context

Positioned at episode 35 of 51, this marks the launch of the Shogun Assassination Arc, one of Gintama's most pivotal long-form storylines. The preceding episodes leaned into the show's trademark comedic and episodic format, making this tonal shift into serialized, high-stakes drama all the more impactful. Everything established here, the political danger, the character loyalties, the simmering tension, feeds directly into the intense action and emotional payoffs of the episodes that follow.
