Gekitou! Crush Gear Turbo
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Before he ever touched a Crush Gear, Kouya Marino lived in the shadow of his older brother Yuya, a legendary Crush Gear champion. Was. Now Yuya's gone, his once-dominant Tobita Club has been gutted by a rich rival team poaching all its members, and the only thing left is Yuya's iconic gear, Garuda Eagle, collecting dust. Kouya inherits the machine and a near-impossible goal: rebuild the club from nothing and fight his way to the top of a sport that's basically mechanical gladiator combat with customizable battle vehicles. The early episodes are pure underdog territory — Kouya and the club's no-nonsense manager Kaoru scraping together a ragtag crew of misfits while arrogant rivals from the Manganji Club treat them like a joke. If you grew up on Beyblade or Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go, this hits that same nerve — kids pouring their souls into toy battles that somehow feel life-or-death. The mechanical customization system is genuinely deep, with swappable weapons, chassis, and spin gears that mirror the real Bandai model kits. Sunrise went early on 3D CGI for the arena fights, and the dynamic camera work during collisions holds up as a cool stylistic choice. The soundtrack alone earns a mention — JAM Project's opening theme 'CRUSH GEAR FIGHT!' sets the tone immediately. It's 68 episodes of nekketsu shounen energy filtered through mechanical combat, and if Medabots was your thing back in the day, this is the slightly grittier cousin you never got around to watching.
