Episode Context

As episode 1 of 113, 'Departure Ballad' is purely foundational, there is nothing before it, and everything after flows from what it establishes here. It locks in Tetsuro's core motivation and his bond with Maetel, which will anchor the entire series. The next episode, 'The Red Winds of Mars,' marks the true launch of their interstellar journey aboard the Galaxy Express 999.
