EPISODE REVIEWS

Best episode yet, with a very surprising plot. Animation: Very good and well done action. Writing: Very surprising plot with lots of action. Pacing: Very well paced like an action movie. Background & Lore: Very good side story using the story's background.

Episode Context

Coming off the emotionally heavy Episode 4, which explored the tragic consequences of forbidden alchemy through a forger's obsession, Episode 5 shifts gears dramatically into action-driven storytelling that tests the brothers' combat readiness. This train hijacking serves as a critical bridge, it deepens the Elrics' connection to the military apparatus and introduces key allied characters before Episode 6's 'The Alchemy Exam,' where Edward formally pursues his State Alchemist certification. It's an early proof-of-concept episode that establishes Ed and Al as capable fighters, not just alchemical prodigies.
