My skin was crawling when Selim showed his true face to Hawkeye because he seemed like such a sweet kid and now everything feels way more dangerous for the team in central and you have Kimblee dropping a philosopher stone on the table to tempt Ed into doing that blood crest so the tension in that room was just suffocating

Olivier claiming responsibility for killing Raven in front of her soldiers proves she is such a powerhouse and seeing them all swear loyalty anyway shows she really has that northern fortress under her thumb

The moment when the shadow detaches from the little kid and wraps around Hawkeye is terrifying because nobody expects the fuhrer son to be the first homunculus and he looks so creepy with those multi-eyed shadows

Kimblee talking about Winry parents while driving her through the snow is so unsettling because he acts polite but you know he is using her as a hostage to control the brothers and keep them in line

I thought it was hilarious how Ed started reciting the periodic table just because Winry got too close to his face, and his face was so red while he was trying to distract himself from her proximity

Ed shouting the periodic table because he was blushing so hard at Winry being close to him was such a great break from the heavy stuff and she did amazing with that cold weather gear

It was so smart how Ed and Al realized they could use May Chang and her alkahestry to find a loop hole in Kimblees mission so they don't have to use that stone

Those shadows just ripped through the soldiers in the tunnel and it really shows why Pride is the first one because his power is scary

I really felt for Hawkeye when she was trapped in that hallway with Selim, especially since he was acting like such a nice kid just a minute ago. That reveal of him being Pride was actually terrifying because his shadow has all those eyes and it feels like nobody can hide. It makes me wonder how long he has been spying on everyone in Central

I honestly can't get over the Selim reveal because he seemed like such a sweet kid and now he is threatening to kill Hawkeye with those creepy shadow eyes. It makes sense why the Fuhrer would have his own kid as a spy but it still feels like a massive punch to the gut after seeing them acting like a normal family

The shadows in the tunnels eating those soldiers was some straight up horror movie stuff and Olivier just taking full responsibility for killing Raven proves she is the most intimidating person in Briggs

I had a physical reaction when Selim turned out to be Pride and the way he threatened Hawkeye while smiling was the creepiest thing in the show so far

Kimblee using Winry as a hostage is so low but the way she stood her ground and insisted on going with them shows she is not just sitting around waiting to be saved

That final shot of the convoy driving into the snowstorm makes the whole mission feel so isolated and dangerous now that Winry is stuck with them in the north

Olivier is such a cold leader for telling her men she killed Raven, but they are all so loyal to her that they didn't even blink at the news

I felt so sick when Kimblee just casualy dropped a philosophers stone on the table and told Ed to commit mass murder for it and the way he talked about Winrys parents was so gross

The moment Kimblee put that philosopher stone on the table the air in the room just changed and you could see how hard it was for Ed to stay focused

Selim being a homunculus is actually insane and that shadow scene in the hallway with Hawkeye terrified me since he looked so innocent before this

Ed reciting the periodic table while Winry was working on him was the only funny part of a super tense episode and it was cute seeing him get so flustered

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned past the halfway mark of Brotherhood's 64-episode run, 'The First Homunculus' follows the emotionally grounded 'Family Portrait' and pivots from personal reflection toward strategic repositioning, as hidden identities reshape the battlefield. This is a transitional episode that consolidates revelations from recent arcs and channels them into the escalating confrontations that define the series' back half. It effectively bridges the mid-series character work with the large-scale conflict that Brotherhood is building toward.
