Zampano losing his mind because jerso can predict the rain just by being a frog chimera is actually the most useful thing in the whole show
giratina's avatar

The way those comedy shorts at the end felt so wrong after watching Hughes die. Olivier using a flamethrower on Ed was funny but it still feels like crying over the phone booth scene

Ed and Al leaving for Dublith feels so different now that Hughes is gone and the whole military seems corrupted

Hughes trying to protect his family and the whole country makes his death feel so heavy
tulip's avatar

Envy is the absolute worst for using Gracia's face to finish the job. Hughes could not even defend himself because he loved his wife too much and that is just pure evil
kido_knight's avatar

Hughes just wanted to show off pictures of his daughter and now he is gone. It is a total tragedy and seeing Mustang stand there in the graveyard was soul crushing

My favorite character is gone and I am not okay. The way he was trying to reach the phone to warn everyone about the conspiracy while bleeding out was just too much for me

I really wish they spent more time with Hughes like the old series, but his death still hit me like a truck. Watching Elicia cry at the funeral was way too much for my soul to handle today.

I was a total mess after the funeral and Elicia was making it a thousand times worse with her crying, but then that goofy 4-koma ending with Olivier using a flamethrower actually made me laugh, and it was such a weird tonal shift after Maes died but I really needed the laugh after that rain scene with Roy at the cemetery

King Bradley showing up at the hospital felt so off and now everything feels like a massive trap

I really liked the 2003 version but this hit just as hard even with the faster pace

Mustang saying it is a terrible day for rain when there are no clouds in the sky is the saddest thing ever. He is hurting so much and you can see his whole world changed

Hawkeye tying the pride shadows into knots without even blinking was so funny, and it shows why you do not mess with her

Hughes was the best guy and seeing his glasses on the ground made me feel sick

I am actually sobbing after seeing Elicia ask why they are burying her dad and it is too much

I cannot believe Envy would transform into his wife just to kill him. That is the most messed up thing and I was actually shouting at the screen for him to get out of the booth

Why did Envy have to turn into his wife to kill him that was so messed up and cruel
levi_lance's avatar

You see how much Roy loved his friend when he started crying and lied about the rain. That graveyard scene is going to be remembered for a very long time because of how quiet it was

Mustang saying it is raining while the sun is out was the only way he could hide those tears

The anime would have been over in 12 episodes if a certain incident didn't happen.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off episode 9's exploration of the Elric brothers' emotional struggles, 'Separate Destinations' pivots to the military conspiracy thread and broadens the narrative scope significantly. At episode 10 of 64, the series is firmly past its introductory phase and transitioning into the deeper, interconnected plotlines that define Brotherhood's middle stretch. This episode functions as a critical bridge, establishing the political dangers surrounding the Philosopher's Stone investigation and setting multiple characters on divergent paths that will fuel major developments in the episodes ahead.
